Photo tips for cats
A windowsill in daylight is the classic cat portrait spot for a reason: soft side light shows the fur and lights up the eyes. Wait until they are relaxed and looking at you.

Quiet, like a cat in the sun
Watercolor paints your cat in translucent washes with soft edges and a little paper texture, and keeps the eyes crisp. It is a calm style for a calm animal, and it suits tabbies, calicos and long-haired cats, whose fur turns into lovely loose brushwork.
The sample is Pepper, a black cat with yellow-green eyes, painted in deep blue-grey washes. Light coats look even softer; dark coats keep their shine in the highlights.

Questions
Will the eye color be right?
Eye color comes from your photo and stays clear in the painting. If the photo used flash and the eyes glow, choose another one.
Can I order it for someone else?
Yes. Borrow a photo of their cat and ship it straight to them; shipping is free in the US.
How does the design work?
You upload a photo, and our AI artist redraws your cat in the style you pick. You see the design on the mug before you pay, and we print exactly that design (without the PREVIEW watermark).
Is the preview really free?
Yes. You can make a few free designs a day without an account or card. You only pay if you order.
What photo works best?
One cat, face clearly visible, in good light and close up. Photos where they are small, blurry or in a group work less well.
Can I change the name?
Yes. Type it in and it updates on the mug straight away. After you order, reply to your confirmation email within 2 hours if anything needs fixing, before it goes to print.
When will it arrive?
It takes 2 to 5 business days to print, then 3 to 7 business days to ship in the US. For Christmas, order by December 4.
What if it arrives damaged or misprinted?
Email us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we reprint it free, shipped free. You don't need to send it back.
What happens to my photo?
We use it only to make your design. Photos are deleted automatically within 60 days, and we never use them in ads without asking you first.
In loving memory
A soft watercolor portrait from a favorite photo, with their name and a few words. Older photos work well.
